Richard’s Candy Company
Richard’s Candy Company was started in November 2009 by Richard D. Terpstra II in honor of his brother, Tom.
"I lost my brother, Tom, to cancer in June 2008. The Glioblastoma Multiform took him in three days. In March of 2009, I went to my first cancer Relay for Life event and was blown away. Later, as I was making a batch of peanut butter fudge for myself, (this was my brother, Tom's, favorite), I was thinking of him and thinking of the Relay for Life, then the idea of fighting cancer and the slogan, “Help Take a Bite out of Cancer" came to me. After this, I came up with the idea of a healthier treat for cancer patients. So, the "In the Raw" Almond butter & Peanut butter treats were added.
"In March of 2010, I graduated up to a team captain and the Advocacy chair at that year’s Myakka Relay for Life event. My committed goal is to help in the search for a cure so that someone with Glioblastoma Multiform can have one more day to live and a chance to say, “Good bye”.
"Candy making has been a part of my family for five generations. Peanut Butter Fudge was my first fudge flavor. As demand grew, so did my list of flavors. My fudge is made from scratch with wholesome ingredients. No preservatives are added."
"Losing my brother, Tom, has taught me that each day is precious, to always be myself, and to keep a smile on my face while making it the best day of my life.
I hope my fudge can put a smile on your face.
